Marion Borgelt: Moonlight in my veins

24 Apr

This week Dominik Mersch in Waterloo is launching a beautiful exhibition by Marion Borgelt.

Inspired by semiotics, and the link between culture and nature, Borgelt uses a diverse range of materials (including bees wax, duck eggshell, glass, paint, wood, metals and paper, to produce works that combine the beauty of vision with the power of sound.  Her images are rich with colour, such as the flourescent Strobe Series (above) and Liquid Light: Butterfly No. 3 (below centre), which is rich with texture and layers. The layered, thoughtful Moonlight Tsukimi (below bottom), is beautiful because of its delicacy and polish.

The latest edition of Art World describes Borgelt as equally analytical and sensual.  It also gives a peek inside Borgelt’s delicious Sydney studio.
